Big Stereo New Years 2008

Those guys over at the west coast music blog Big Stereo are making it over to the Brooklyn for New Years Eve. What are they bringing? Nothing less than an amazing party over at Silent Barn in queens. This one should be a killer considering some of the names performing, especially Todosantos. Check out some youtube vids of them here, here and here.
For you of those who don’t know who/what Silent Barn is check out this post with exclusive XLR8R video of the owners/operators of the performance space.
DJ Venom - Street Carnage Mix

When I first saw this mix on Discobelle I assumed it was DJ Venom from Boston. A hard house DJ that peaked with the rave scene in 2000 and was like WTF is DJ Venom doing up on Discobelle, no one listens to hard house anymore, and I haven’t seen Venom since 2002 or so. Then I read on an realized that it wasn’t the DJ Venom I knew and loved, but rather a new DJ Venom from the UK that Starkey and Drop the Lime shouted out recently. Cool Stuff!
Check out the mix and hit below the fold for the track listing.(edit: this tracklisting seems off, I wouldn’t trust it with your life or anything) Thanks for the find Discobelle
Silent Barn featured on XLR8R TV
XLR8R is one of my favorite weekly video / audio podcasts. They cover great djs and bands that are taking over both NY and SF’s music.
This week they chose to cover Silent Barn, a great little music venue way out in Ridgewood. Silent Barn has been known to host of the famous Todd P promoted music events as well as play host to some pretty big bands such as Deerhunter, Dan Deacon, and thedeathset.
DJ Distance - Demons

From what I can tell DJ Distance has been around for a few years. I am relatively new to the relatively new dubstep scene and just came across this track randomly and totally fell in love.
Someone get this man over to NY! I love love dubstep shows! Supposedly he played in May, but I totally missed that bus. Anyway check out his track Demons
Want to here more of his tracks check his Myspace page or his blog

Those crazy LA Cats Gun’n'Bombs finally got around to releasing their 3rd mix. I feel like I have been waiting forever for it. Its a short and sweet banger for sure.

Boys Noize - My Head (Para One remix)
Junior Senior - Get To Know You (Guns ‘N’ Bombs Jak The Tab mix)
Samuel L Sessions - Flipmode
Green Velvet - Flash
Bonde Do Role - Office Boy (Brodinski remix)

Patrik Alavi - Hell Yeah (Jaimie Fanatic remix)
Lethal Bizzle - Selfridges Boy (Boy 8 Bit remix)
Electrocherrie LK - Schnall
My 2 loves combined in on Current TV video. Bikes and bass heavy dubstep. Pretty cool, albeit grainy video of some Londoners doing some sprints with a dubstep soundtrack. Very nice.
mix: Reid Speed - FNGRBNGR
Can this woman get any hotter?! Reid drops another killer mix just in time for the cool weather booty electro dancing season. (What you didn’t know Novemember was Booty Electro season!)
Don’t let this one slip through your fingers.
I have known Reid since the 90’s but since some people might not be familiar . Check below the fold for what Wikipedia has to say about her as well as the tracklisting.
video: N-Type on Dubstep
British producer N-Type hosted this mini-documentary outlining the current state of the UK Dubstep seen. This came out in June of this year, but somehow it has escaped my grasp until now. Some of the heavy hitters interviewed in this include Skream, Hatcha, and Crazy D.
If you new to this whole dubstep genre, watch this video, it give a pretty quick but accurate overview of the progression of the music.
